Dental SEO for London practices

Get found by more London patients already searching for the treatments you provide.

  • No “four blogs a month” packages just to look busy.
  • No celebrating rankings that never turn into patients.
  • No 100-page technical reports full of things nobody will implement.

Just commercially focused SEO for dentists in London, prioritised around one question:

What is most likely to help the right patients find, trust and choose your practice?

A patient searches

dental implants near me

Your competitor appears.

You don’t.

FoundTrustedChosen

The problem

A patient can be looking for exactly what you sell and still never discover you

Imagine somebody ten minutes from your practice searching:

dental implants near me

Invisalign Clapham

emergency dentist London

They’re not casually browsing the internet.

They have a problem. They know roughly what they want. And they’re looking for a practice that can help.

If your competitors appear and you don’t, you may never know that patient existed.

There is no notification saying:

“Someone nearby wanted a valuable treatment today, but Google showed them another practice.”

You don’t see the enquiries you never received.

You don’t see the treatment plans you never got to discuss.

You don’t see the patients who might have stayed with your practice for years.

They just never arrive.

The uncomfortable bit

Being a better dentist doesn’t guarantee you’ll be the dentist they choose

Patients can’t inspect every dental practice in London before deciding who to contact.

They make decisions from the evidence available to them.

  • Who appeared when they searched?
  • Does the practice clearly offer the treatment they need?
  • Is it convenient?
  • Do the reviews inspire confidence?
  • Does the website answer their questions?
  • Does the practice feel established, trustworthy and easy to contact?

A genuinely excellent dental practice can still lose patients to a competitor that simply does a better job of being found, understood and trusted online.

Follow the demand

Dental SEO should follow the money, not the keyword count

Not every Google search has equal commercial value.

01

Researching

how long does Invisalign take?

Useful demand, but the searcher may still be a long way from choosing a provider.

02

Choosing

Invisalign dentist near me

This person is much closer to contacting a practice and starting a treatment conversation.

Likewise, ranking for a hundred loosely related dentistry questions may look excellent in an SEO report while generating fewer enquiries than a handful of highly relevant treatment and local searches.

The objective isn’t to rank for every phrase containing the word dentist.

It’s to appear more often at the moments that can become valuable patient enquiries.

London is not one market

“Rank higher in London” isn’t a strategy

A dental practice in Marylebone is not competing in exactly the same market as one in Croydon.

A cosmetic clinic drawing patients from across London faces a different search problem from a general practice primarily serving people who live within a few miles.

An implant clinic may care far more about a small number of highly competitive treatment searches than it does about broad traffic.

Your actual market

  • The treatments you want to grow
  • Where existing patients come from
  • How far people will realistically travel
  • The practices competing for those patients
  • Whether the search is local, treatment-led or both
  • What Google currently rewards in those results

For some practices, Google Maps and the Local Pack will be crucial. For others, strong organic treatment pages may create more opportunity. Usually, both matter.

The system

Get found. Get trusted. Get chosen.

Ranking is only useful if it eventually leads somewhere.

01

Get found

Appear when relevant patients search for treatments your practice provides.

  • Google Business Profile
  • Local SEO signals
  • Treatment and service pages
  • Keyword targeting
  • Organic search visibility
  • Local citations

02

Get trusted

Give patients, Google and AI systems enough evidence to believe the practice.

  • Patient reviews
  • Clear treatment information
  • Practitioner credentials
  • Consistent practice information
  • Social proof
  • Relevant backlinks and mentions

03

Get chosen

Make it obvious to a good prospect why they should contact your practice rather than go back to Google.

  • Clear next steps
  • Relevant proof
  • Useful FAQs
  • Strong treatment positioning
  • Easy contact and booking journeys

What the work can include

Dental SEO isn’t one predetermined checklist

Every practice starts somewhere different. I identify where qualified patient demand is being lost, then prioritise the work most likely to make a meaningful difference.

Local SEO & Google Business Profile

Improve visibility for local searches such as dentist near me, emergency dental searches and treatment-plus-location queries through GBP optimisation, reviews, citations and wider local relevance.

Treatment & service pages

Create or improve the pages that should rank when somebody is actively considering treatments such as dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, composite bonding, teeth whitening or orthodontics.

Keyword & search-intent research

Work out what potential patients actually search for, which terms signal commercial intent and which opportunities are worth competing for.

Technical & on-page SEO

Improve crawling, indexing, site architecture, internal linking, mobile experience, page speed, titles, headings, URLs and structured data where they genuinely matter.

Content strategy

Use content when it has a job: answer valuable informational searches, support treatment pages, remove objections or strengthen topical relevance. No publishing for the sake of publishing.

Authority & link building

Build stronger evidence that your website deserves to rank through relevant backlinks, local citations, partnerships, mentions and other off-page SEO signals.

AI search visibility

Make the practice easier for systems such as ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews to discover, understand and trust through clear information, consistent entities, useful content and credible third-party evidence.

No SEO theatre

You won’t pay me to manufacture activity

A lot of SEO packages are easy to fulfil:

  • Four blogs
  • Ten links
  • A technical audit
  • A report
  • Repeat next month

The problem is that your practice does not necessarily need those things in those quantities.

You might already have excellent treatment content but weak local authority.

You might have hundreds of reviews but poor service pages.

You might have a technically excellent website nobody has a reason to trust.

I diagnose what is holding the practice back, prioritise it, then work on that.

If changing three important pages is likely to produce more value than publishing twelve new ones, we’ll improve the three pages.

If a technical issue is harmless, it doesn’t become urgent merely because an SEO tool coloured it red.

Who’s behind this?

Hi, I’m Tommy.

I’m a London-based SEO consultant and the person behind Dental SEO London.

Before moving into digital marketing, I spent 11 years working in software and web development.

That background affects the way I approach SEO. I like understanding why something isn’t working, I care about implementation, and I’d rather identify the handful of changes most likely to matter than send you a giant document listing every technically imperfect thing on your website.

Technical recommendations don’t stop at “ask your developer to fix this.”

Dental SEO London is a specialist service from Tommy McDevitt Marketing, focused specifically on helping London dental practices become easier to find, trust and choose online.

No disappearing act

You shouldn’t have to wonder what your SEO consultant is doing

SEO takes time. That makes communication more important, not less.

Weekly

Progress updates

You’ll know what I’m working on, what’s changed, what I need from you and what happens next.

Monthly

Strategy call

We review progress, priorities, the data and anything changing inside your practice.

Direct

Access to me

No account manager between you and the person actually doing the work.

You don’t need to become a dental SEO expert. But you should understand where your money is going.

The process

How it works

01—Send me your website

Tell me where your practice is based, which treatments matter most and what you’d particularly like help with. I’ll take an initial look before asking you to commit to anything.

02—I’ll check whether I think I can help

I’ll look at the current search landscape, your website and the obvious opportunities. If I don’t think there is a sensible commercial case for working together, I’ll tell you.

03—We agree the priorities

We’ll discuss your practice, patients, highest-value treatments, current marketing and what success actually looks like.

04—I diagnose the search opportunity

I’ll analyse the website, Google Business Profile, competitors, rankings, content, technical foundations and authority, then prioritise the work by likely commercial impact.

05—We implement

I’ll work directly on what I can and coordinate with you where access, approval or specialist input is required.

06—We review and adjust

SEO isn’t a one-off switch. We’ll monitor what changes, identify new opportunities and keep prioritising the work most likely to move the practice forward.

Investment

How much does dental SEO in London cost?

Ongoing SEO pricing depends on the size of the practice, the competitiveness of your treatments and how much implementation is needed.

I don’t price based on an arbitrary number of blogs or backlinks.

I price around the work required to create a serious chance of commercial improvement.

Timescale

How long does dental SEO take?

There isn’t a credible universal answer.

A practice with a strong website, hundreds of good reviews and some existing authority may have a relatively short list of important problems to fix.

A new practice competing for highly valuable terms like dental implants London may be entering a much harder fight.

SEO usually compounds rather than switching on overnight.

SEO is a channel, not a religion.

The cost of waiting

Every patient who can’t find you has another practice to choose from

Doing nothing doesn’t freeze the search results.

Your competitors continue collecting:

  • patient reviews
  • backlinks
  • local citations
  • website authority
  • treatment-page rankings
  • Google visibility
  • brand recognition
  • patient relationships

And each time somebody searches for a treatment you provide and chooses another practice, the cost isn’t an impression.

It’s the patient you never had the opportunity to speak to.

If there is already demand for the treatments you want to grow, the question isn’t whether people are searching.

Who are they finding?

Questions people reasonably ask

Frequently asked questions

What is dental SEO?

Dental SEO is the process of improving a dental practice’s visibility in search engines for relevant patient searches. That can include local SEO, Google Business Profile optimisation, treatment and service pages, technical SEO, content, reviews, citations and backlinks. The purpose isn’t simply to generate more traffic. It’s to help more potential patients discover the practice when they are already searching for the treatments it provides.

How is dental SEO different from ordinary SEO?

The underlying SEO principles are the same, but the search landscape is specific to dentistry. Different treatments have different commercial value and search behaviour. A general dentist trying to attract nearby families has a different problem from a cosmetic practice competing across London for implants, Invisalign or composite bonding.

Do dentists need local SEO?

For most physical dental practices, local SEO is extremely important. Patients frequently search using terms such as dentist near me, treatment-plus-location queries and Google Maps. Your Google Business Profile, reviews, local relevance, citations and website all help determine whether your practice becomes visible in those searches.

Can you help improve our Google Business Profile?

Yes. Google Business Profile optimisation can form part of the work where local visibility is important, including categories, services, practice information, landing-page relevance, reviews and the wider signals supporting your local search presence.

Do you guarantee first-place rankings?

No. Nobody can credibly guarantee a particular organic ranking. Search results depend on Google, competitors, location, authority, relevance and many other factors outside any consultant’s complete control. What I can do is identify what appears to be preventing your practice from competing more effectively, prioritise the opportunities and implement the work designed to improve your visibility.

Do we need to publish a blog?

Not necessarily. Blogs can be useful when patients are making informational searches which genuinely support your commercial goals. But publishing articles simply because “SEO needs content” is a waste of time. Treatment pages, local pages, FAQs, existing content improvements or authority building may deserve attention first.

Can dental SEO help us attract implant or cosmetic patients?

Potentially, yes. Treatments such as dental implants, orthodontics, composite bonding, teeth whitening and other cosmetic procedures often have dedicated search demand. The opportunity depends on your location, competition, website, authority and the searches potential patients are making.

Is SEO better than Google Ads for dentists?

They solve slightly different problems. Google Ads can create immediate paid visibility while you continue paying for clicks. SEO takes longer but can build an organic visibility asset over time. Many practices can benefit from both. I won’t recommend SEO simply because SEO is what I sell if another channel is clearly more appropriate for the immediate problem.

Can you help with AI Overviews and ChatGPT visibility?

Yes, where there is a realistic opportunity. I don’t treat AI optimisation as a completely separate discipline. Search engines and AI systems both benefit from clear information about your practice, treatments, locations, practitioners and evidence of credibility across the web.

Do you only work with dental practices in London?

Dental SEO London is specifically designed for dental practices serving patients in London. My broader consultancy, Tommy McDevitt Marketing, works with other service businesses and on wider digital visibility projects.

Who will actually do the SEO work?

Me. I’m Tommy McDevitt, a London-based SEO consultant with an 11-year background in software and web development. You won’t be passed to an account manager after the sales call.

Ready when you are

Get found when the right patients are already looking

If your practice is already attracting as many of the right patients as you want from Google, you probably don’t need me.

But if competitors keep appearing for valuable local and treatment searches while your practice is difficult to find, that’s demand you’re leaving on the table.

Let’s work out where you’re losing visibility — and whether it’s worth fixing.
